"The Islamic School League of America (ISLA), a nonprofit that connects Muslim educators and institutions, estimates that 40,000 students are enrolled in Islamic schools in the United States, a 25 percent increase from 2006."

High Court OKs Ariz. Tax Credit For Religious Schools
"A deeply divided Supreme Court ruled Monday that taxpayers have no legal right to challenge a tax break that channels millions of dollars to private religious schools. The 5-to-4 decision left intact an Arizona tax subsidy that was enacted because the state constitution forbids direct aid to religious schools, including vouchers."

Recession Fuels Shift From Private to Public Schools
"Enrollment figures for the current school year won't be available until next year, but the U.S. Department of Education's latest estimate finds that from 2006 to 2009, public school enrollment grew by nearly a half-million students, or about 1%, while private school enrollment dropped by about 146,000, or 2.5%".
